OUR FOUNDER

Maya Y. Dennis (she/her) has a decade of experience coaching and leading adults to achieve their personal-professional and organizational goals. YBFIC was born from Maya’s deep passion for the professional and personal development of Black femme leaders to successfully drive results through others while navigating myriad ‘isms in the workplace. More importantly, YBFIC is a legacy project for Maya; a tribute to her late mother, a corporate and real estate attorney, and her late grandmother, an investment banking executive and real estate investor, whose adages and testimonies not only set Maya on the path to become a YBFIC but to advance the career and effectiveness of hundreds of YBFICs  as well. YBFIC is Maya’s way of continuing her mother and grandmother’s legacy of mentoring and uplifting young Black women while staying rooted in authenticity.

Maya holds a bachelor’s degree from Williams College, a Masters degree in the Art of Teaching from RELAY Graduate School of Education, and a Masters degree in Education Entrepreneurship from the University of Pennsylvania. Maya is a mother of Kindergarten boy-girl twins, an avid baker, and a women’s basketball super fan!
